Help Needed! Advice Welcome!

Does anybody out in blogging land have a suggestion as to what is the best method for posting AUDIO to this blog or any blog for that matter? Is YOUTUBE a viable method or is there another service that does this with relative ease?

Thank you!

Don't Know What to Do

It's a battle of wills
And only one can survive
So do I really need the anger and you in my life
Or do I hold on
To what I feel deep inside
I feel so confused and the feelings won't subside

I just don't know what to do!
oooooooo...
I don't know what to do
oooooooo
I don't know what to do
But I know... I can't stop loving you

There's no use in cryin' over yesterday
Loves path can lead the way
So tell me now do you believe in truth
Or are you in the game of being used?

oooooo
I don't know what to do
oooooo
I don't know what to do
oooooo
But I know.... I can't stop loving you
I just don't know what to do

Weekend Love

Your love tastes and bites
I don't wanna have a weekend love
Taste and bites and you take it back
Oh no.. Oh no... Oh no....

(chorus)
I don't wanna have a weekend love
You carry me high but I fall alone
You give me love in the gift of the moon
Some nights aglow..Other nights I'm alone

Oh no Oh no Oh no

I don't wanna have a weekend love
It's having you or nothing at all
I hate these crazy games you play
Playing with my love in crooked ways

Oh no, Oh no, Oh no

I don't wanna have a weekend love
You carry me high but I fall alone
You give me love in the gift of the moon
Some nights aglow
Other nights I'm alone

Nasra sent me another great poem to transform lyrically. This lyric is rather simple, but I think it makes a very valid and touching point between a persons dream and the coming understanding of reality. Something most of us have faced at one time or another. You can find more or the very talented Nasra's works here:A Window Within Myself If you haven't been to her blog you owe it to yourself to pay it a visit. Thanks NASRA!

It's Up To You

There's so much I need to talk about
With you.. With you.
There's so much I need to learn about
From you... From you..

Give n take it, make or break it
The choice.. It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you

There's much we've learned
So much has been lost
I'm begging you girl
Not to forget the cost

Without the memories
We wouldn't have the pain
I'm reaching for you
But its just not the same

(Chorus)
(you)Give n take it, make or break it
The choice.. it's up to you
Give n' take it, make or break it
The choice, yes it's up to you

There's so much I need to think about
From you, from you
There's so much I need to forget about
With you, with you

But you give n take it, make and break it
The choice.. It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you
It's up to you

And I've bided my time
For far to long
I'm losing my grip
Just tryin' to hold on

To you
To you
To you
(to chorus)

(You and I) Weren't Meant for Each Other

Why do we do this to each other?
Playin' hide n seek, past the honesty
Only masks the real truth.. Can't you see.... Can't you see

(Chorus)
You and I weren't meant for each other
There's too much distance in this love affair
I can't keep holding on
To what my heart knows is wrong
Baby you and I weren't meant for each other.

I can't keep searching past tomorrow
And you have long since left the stage

It's time we cut the strings
Open our hearts and see what tomorrow brings
And ask why do we do this to each other... Can't you see (to chorus)

Bridge
There's nothing left to talk about
No more words no more doubt
We can't get past the real truth
There's nothing left of me and you

Sing My Song

We live in a rushed word,
Full of rushed symphonies
And here we are
Lost in the words
That brings lust
And your lost in my soul

And it just aint' the same
Without those beautiful words
Singing to my ears

(chorus)
Who could sing my song
With no music or symphonies
Who can light the fire on this song
Who could sing my song
Now tell me who can sing my song

These fingers don't know
How to tie the rhythm in the music
Within lays the silent tunes
And it ain't the same
With no passion music and the lyrics are lost

(chorus2)Who could sing my song
With no music or symphonies
Can you light the fire on this song
Would you sing
Now tell me would you sing.. My song.

Can you sing this song
With all you passion
And would you feel it inside
Reciting...Just one more time
It can become your song

(Bridge)
Cuz when the melodies fade
And your tired of the race
Can't you see the notes don't sound the same
(To chorus)

Nasra sent me another poem and asked me to put a lyrical touch to it. I really enjoy working with Nasra. She is extremely talented with poetry and deserves international recognition for her works.

I see this as a slow Elton John type ballad. Heavy on the piano throughout with a heavy ending. As always I hope to be able to work with Nasra again! Please visit her blog at http://iamnasra.blogspot.com/

Not Gonna Take It

I never know
Just what you think I'm supposed to feel
I should've known better
Than to let you spin my wheels

Well you can say I'm tough
Sometimes you gotta be ruff
Can't you see..... I've had enough

(Chorus)
Cuz I'm not gonna take it (o no)
Not gonna take anymore more from you
Cuz I'm not gonna fake it(o no)
There's gotta be more than some chemistry

I should've know better
Than to let you walk in the door
My heart just can't take it
You are not what I've been looking for

Well you can say I'm tough
Honey I've called your bluff
Can't you see... I've had enough
(to chorus solo and repeat chours x 2)

Get Back To You

She called me on my phone
And told me not to come home
She said I don't know wrong from right

She said she's had enough
And was giving up
Her words cut me right down to the bone

Now I'm biding my time
In the unemployment line
Man I just wanna go home

I need to hold you for awhile
See your smile
And try to get past the shame

(chorus)
I just gotta.... get back to your girl
Why won't you take my call
I just wanna.... get back with you girl
I'm at the end of the line what am I supposed to do?
(Back to you girl!)

I thought I treated you right
Kept you in my sights
This whole affair caught me by surprise

Now I spend me time
Trying to make things right
Baby I just wanna come home (Back to you girl!)
(solo and to chorus x2)

(Bridge)
There will never be another heart to take your place
I've tried to tell you that I'm sorry
but your heart is still filled with hate
Words just can't describe what I feel
I need to tell you that I love you
But I'm still spinning my wheels

Walk It Through

Walk It Through

As I keep
Watching you
You take hesitance steps
You tremble n fall
I race to hold you through
I still don’t reach you on time
You distant to take that fall
Though my heart wana fall
Instead of you

My eyes plead to you
Walk it through
Just
Walk through
Walk it through

Life is a bumpy road
Everyone have to taste the falls
How come when you fall
Im falling with you
And your tears of battling all
Seem to pierce more

So stand there
Walk it through
Just walk through
Walk it through

~Walk It Through~
As I keep,watching you
You take those hesitance steps
Then you tremble n fall

I race to hold you
But I don't reach you in time
Your to distant to take that fall
When you step out of line
Though my heart wants to fall
Instead of you

My eyes and heart beg to please you
to just walk it through
Just walk through
Walk it through

(chorus)
Walk it through baby
One step at a time
You'll only fall down when you step out of line
Walk it through baby
One step at a time
You'll only fall down
When you step out of line

Life is a bumpy road
Everyone has to taste the falls
How come when you fall
I'm keep falling with you
And your tears of battling ill will
Seem to pierce me most of all

So stand there
Walk it through
Just walk through
Walk it through
(to chorus)

The first version is the rough draft, Nasra from "A Window Within Myself" sent me. Though rough draft isn't really the right term. It was and is a complete poem in itself. And a wondefull one at that! Nasra ask me to turn the poem in a music lyric. Though lyrics and poetry are similar in nature they are also differant at the same time.

The second version posted is the finished lyric. You can see the edits and additions that have been made. After reworking it a bit, I emailed Nasra and she had some suggestions and from there we both "polished" off the lyric. It was a very enjoyable experiance working with Nasra who sits half a word away from me in Oman. Nasra is a truely gifted poet and I enourage all to pay her blog a visit and bookmark it as well.

I look forward to working with her again!

25 Lyrics in Two Weeks!

It has been a very creative 2 week period of time for me. I have written 20 + song lyrics. More than enough for 2 albums. (Yep I am dating myself.. Albums!) I truly believe most of them stand up lyrically to what else is out there and there are at least 3 or 4 that have the potential to be "hits". I don't try to write commercial bubblegum music. I write what flows from my fingers and my mind. If that happens to be "popish" well that is what it is. I am happy with what has been written yet, flexible enough to realize that nothing is set in stone. You must be flexible and open to suggestions and (GASP!) criticisms.

Too many lyricist and musicians get all wrapped up in the quote "integrity" of the song. They want to be a success. They want the fame and fortune. The bright lights, their names in lights, yet they cloister themselves and often wind up closing doors that would otherwise be open. Failing to realize that with very few exceptions if you want to sell a product (ie MUSIC and LYRICS) the product must have appeal. And that appeal means you need a "hook" in the lyric/music that brings pleasure and be re memorable to the listener. This appeal of the hook varies of course from genre to genre. A vast difference between Mettalica hooks to those provided by Barry Manilow. Yet they both sell and sell millions of albums and perform to sold out shows year after year.

As always I am looking for feedback on my lyrics. You won't hurt my feelings if you don't like something. I want and encourage you to please leave your comments if you feel so inclined. You can also email me at SKUNKCRAZY@AOL.COM if you would like. I am also open to working with people to co write some lyrics. I am also avidly looking for someone to collaborate with music wise in the Boston area. Toss out your ideas and let's run with them.

Ciao!
Mark

In Our Small Town

I remember growing up in that small town
We had a blast never caring for the things
in the world that was going down

There where some tough times
That was for sure
But friends are friends and we did what we could

In our small town
In our small town

I remember the trip we took to 6 Flags
Stood in line for the double loop
Rob lost his lunch and felt like a fool
Back in our small town

We played football out in the street
Kick ball, stick ball and changed all the rules
Back in our small town

In our small town
In our small town

Childhood turned to the teenage years
We all got cars are cruised through the gears
Changed girlfriends like some change tires
It was a miracle we kind of survived

The graduation came and went
The gang split up and started to drift
But I will never forget the friendship we had
Some of them are gone and those dreams have past

In our small town
In our small town

Slow It Down

You're running red lights
Going to fast
Burning the emotions up baby
The ones you thought you could make last

And you're going through life with blinders on
You gotta slow it down baby
The race has been won

(chorus)
Slow it down baby you're going way to fast
You're burning up my heart
Your time has gotta last

Slow it down baby you're going way to fast
You're burning up my heart
And you're running out of gas

Forget the brake lights
You got the pedal to the floor
There's no speed zone baby
When you walked out the door

When you drive through life with your headlights off
Your pushin' it to the limit
When your just not that tough

(chorus)
Slow it down baby you're going way to fast
You're burning up my heart
Your time has gotta last

Slow it down baby you're going way to fast
You're burning up my heart
And you're out of gas

You keep running red lights
Going way to fast
You're burning up my heart
And your running out of gas
(to chorus)

Slow it down
Slow it down
Slow it down 1 2 3 4 (To chorus)

All The Things We Mean (to each other)

Oh Oh ooooo
Life's lonesome road leads past tomorrow
The highway of life seems so unclear
Today turns to yesterday and the weeks pass by like years
Just wanting you near

There's a river of hope waiting on the stairwell
The banister of hope slowly turns to stone

There are choices to make
and dreams to mend
Follow me close
and we'll learn how to give

All the things we mean to each other.....
All the things we mean to each other....
All the things we mean to each other....

And no matter what the future holds
I'll be there to hold you close
And we can share
All the things we mean to each other

Cuz There are choices to make
and dreams to mend
Follow me close
and we'll learn how to give

All the things we mean to each other.....
All the things we mean to each other....
All the things we mean to each other....

I Can't See You

I see the snowy fields
They go on forever
I see the empty smiles
They're not so far behind

I feel the empty hearts
Longing just to feel
I sense the teary eyes
With nothing left to see

(Chorus)
But I can't see you through the fog in the air
I can't see you, though you're standing there
I can't see you in clear of day
I can't see you in the pouring rain

I see the snow melt on the mountaintop
The streams go on forever
I see the dreams melt away empty smiles
The pain isn't so far behind
(To chorus)

I see the snowy fields
They go on forever
I see the empty smiles
They're not so far behind

I feel the empty hearts
Longing just to feel
I sense the teary eyes
With nothing left to see

Back in Action

There's never been a chance to find
Another girl like you

Been around long enough to know
That I should have never let you go (o'no)

And I've gone through some changes
Since I last saw you

I've done some healin' yeah baby
Now I'm back and coming after you

(chorus)
Well I'm back, yeah I'm back in action
And I'm coming for you
Look out, there's no turning back
Cuz I'm back... and I need satisfaction
And I'm back and I'm coming back for you
(bridge)
It took me a while to find some courage
After losing you
I stepped back from all the action

Now I'm looking for some satisfaction
Girl I'm coming after you
I'm coming after you

(Chorus 2)
Cuz I'm back, back in action
And I'm coming after you
Just to be coming back after you

Well I should have known better
Than to let you go
I should have stopped you right there
When I let you walk out the door

And I've gone through some changes
Since I last saw you
I've done some healin' yeah baby
Now I'm headin' back for you

I envision this as a classic "southern rock" tune ala 38 special or Lynard Skinner. Both favorites of mine growing up. Just a good ole boy wind em up rock type anthem with a good "pop" sound that is commercial by design. Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone?

Baby I'm On My Way

There's a message in the air but its not quite clear
(Baby I'm on my way)
I can't touch your hand cuz I'm so far away
(Ba Baby I'm on my way)

They say lightening doesn't strike twice
But I don't know
I'm a rebel in my heart
I'm always on the move you know

Baby.. I'm on my way
Baby.. I'm on my way
Baby.. I'm on my way
Baby.. I'm on my way

Do or die, yeah that's the situation
I take it to the limit with no complications BABY
And all ever wanted you to know (Baby I'm on my way)
Is this burning love I feel I just can't let go (BABY! I'm on my way)

I'm on my way
Baby I'm on my way
Ba Ba Baby... I'm on my WAY!

Ba Ba Baby.. I'm on my way
Baby.. I'm on my way
Ba Ba Baby.. I'm on my way
Baby.. I'm on my way

So Long

So long
You say you gotta go and set your self free
So long
I hope you find the answers
I hope you get what you need

and no matter what I did it wasn't good enough
I gave you my all now what was I supposed to do
Now all I have to say to you.... is

(chorus)
So long
You say you gotta go and set your self free
So long
I hope you find the answers
I hope you get what you need

And no matter what I did
It wasn't good enough
Pull up your stakes
The times are tough

(Bridge)
Cuz I'm done being your whippin' boy
I've just got better things to do
You've left you mark go on and make a fresh start
Baby I'm not gonna be used.. by you...

Journey to Nowhere

I've gotta go gotta go, gotta go
On that journey to nowhere
I've got to go and find myself there
I've just got to go there

Journey to nowhere
I've just go to go there

Well I've been down
Kicked in the face
Lost my soul in part of the race

Now I'm seeking some redemption
No matter the cost
Tryin' to face the future
But somehow I got lost, so i've..

I've gotta go gotta go, gotta go
On that journey to nowhere
I've got to go and find myself there
I've just got to go there

Journey to nowhere
I've just go to go there

A Window Within Myself

I need to find another way
I need to search for a new route
I need to learn to look at myself

It's a strange way to travel
When the map's not quite clear
There's twists at every turn

I need to face the truth
Keep opening the doors
And listen to what my heart tells

Just to find a window within myself

Searching for answers
On the highway of life
Sometimes you play the clown

There's a mountain of hope
A desert of despair
The uncertainty can bring you down

(chorus)
But I keep pushin' on
Holding on
To that, that I hold near
(but I)
Just to find.. I gotta find.. Just to find
A window within myself

I gotta find, nothing to hide, gotta find
A window within myself.

(bridge)
Tomorrow isn't written in stone
I keep saying there's nothing left to fear
But these memories I've lost
I can't total the cost
I am on the edge of despair

I Don't Wanna Hear (Those Words From You)

I don't wanna hear those words from you
When they don't sound sincere

I don't have to peel back the years
When we're finally on our own

And in the night I hear you call my name
But I won't answer... I can't answer

There's nothing holding back this wall of pain
Except you.. except you.

(chorus)
So I'll stoke the fires of love
And dream of better days
But I don't wanna hear those words from you
I just can relive the pain
We tried to hold the candle
But baby we got burned
There's nothing left but sour dreams
Nightmares that never end

(bridge)
I don't want these memories
That haunt me day by day
Losing you won't bring me answers
But it helps with the pain

This lyric is one of the first "blues/jazz" inspired ones I have ever done. I have loved the blues but never really felt the "need" to try and write something overly bluesy. I would love to sit down with someone and finish this one off musically. I know there isn't much commericial appeal and by no means is the lyric "POP" enough for radio, but I think it has enough soul to stand up and be turned into something special.
